Barry L. Ehlers is a Managing Director for True Partners Consulting in the Chicago office.  Mr. Ehlers has worked in public accounting and tax for over 23 years and actively manages a wide variety of tax engagements including federal, state, and international tax projects. 

Mr. Ehlers started his career with Arthur Andersen in 1986.  In 1996, he moved to Price Waterhouse to help run a Midwest region tax practice group.  In 1998, he was hired by KPMG to run a competing tax practice group and subsequently was in charge of a tax practice group that operated 6 public and private company’s tax departments.  He also had responsibility for practice groups that assisted tax departments with process improvements and the use of technology.  In 2002, Mr. Ehlers joined Stone Wallace LLC to build and oversee the tax practice with similar responsibilities.

Mr. Ehlers has a broad background and has worked with many tax professionals in industry and public accounting in Chicago and across the country.  He has worked on a variety of clients, in a variety of industries throughout his career. His breadth of experience in tax includes US Income, International, Domestic, Mergers & Acquisitions, Bankruptcy, sales/use, property and running projects.  He also directed two Foreign Sales Corporation (Extraterritorial Income Exclusion) practices in the Midwest.  He has worked closely with hundreds of information systems groups in order to obtain information necessary for tax computations, including companies using SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, PeopleSoft and legacy systems.  Mr. Ehlers has also been involved in various tax initiatives.  He has developed, tested and used software and tools.  He is very familiar with using technology in tax departments and completing tax projects.

Mr. Ehlers is an active member of the Chicago Tax Club, FENG, CBA, ISBA and AICPA.  Also, he is a contributor to the Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. Tax Management Portfolio, Foreign Corporation Earnings and Profits.  He spent time in Mexico consulting on a broad range of issues associated with doing business in Mexico.  In addition, he speaks on tax topics such as general federal and international taxation, doing business in Mexico and certain incentives.
Mr. Ehlers received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville and a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul College of Law.  He is a certified public accountant and a member of the Illinois CPA Society.  He is also licensed to practice law in Illinois.
