Mr. Salus is a Managing Director in True Partners Consulting’s Chicago office.He has more than 16 years of experience in the federal and international tax areas, focused on tax planning, mergers and acquisitions and accounting for income taxes.He also has experience with corporate and partnership compliance and representing clients in tax controversies before federal and state authorities.

Mr. Salus’ practice focuses on assisting clients with improving and automating tax provision processes, assessing and improving internal controls in tax processes consistent with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and advising clients on tax savings strategies.He is one of the Firmwide leaders in assisting clients with the adoption and implementation of FIN 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes.His experience, working both in and outside of the corporate arena, gives him insight and understanding into the needs of clients.

Prior to joining True Partners, Mr. Salus was the acting Tax Director for GE Railcar Leasing Services, a subsidiary of GE Capital.While at GE Rail, he implemented Sec. 404 for his and other business units and conducted a FAS 109 tax accounting study for that business from its inception.He also identified and coordinated GST refund efforts for the company and its subsidiaries in Canada.

Prior to that, Mr. Salus was a Senior Tax Manager with Arthur Andersen and thereafter with Deloitte where he represented corporate and private equity clients with due diligence projects and structuring acquisitions and dispositions of domestic and international investments.

Mr. Salus received his Bachelors of Science degree from DePaul University and his Juris Doctorate degree from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Illinois Bar. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, as well as a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
